Powder coating is a dry finishing process that provides a high-quality, durable finish. More and more companies are choosing industrial powder coating because of its protective capabilities and high-quality appearance. It can also be used on various materials. Powder coating is suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications, and it’s cost-effective as well.
Rockett is pleased to offer industrial powder coating services using our two Electrostatic Powder Coating Systems. Both are conveyor-based and computer-controlled for maximum precision and efficiency. The two systems utilize 5-Stage Iron Phosphate Washers for optimal surface preparation, and Gema equipment for superior powder application.
Furthermore, much of Rockett’s core work is for the electrical power industry. Based on the rigorous IEEE performance requirements for those products; our finishing consistently meets or exceeds 2,000-hour Salt Spray Tests. We monitor and record system data and ensure consistent quality with both in-house and third-party process verification. What is Industrial Powder Coating Exactly?
Powder coating is a dry coating process used mostly on industrial equipment to create a durable long-lasting finish. It is made from polymer resin combined with pigments, curative, leveling agents, flow modifiers and other additives. All ingredients are mixed together, cooled and ground into a fine polyester based powder.
The powder is applied through an electrostatic process and then cured in a natural gas oven. This heat curing process helps to form a hard coating. This coating repels moisture, chemicals and other elements, and is easy to clean. It will last for decades.
Unlike traditional paint that has a liquid carrier, powder coating contains no solvents and releases little or no volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into the air. Due to this, powder coating has a reduced environmental impact and better complying with environmental regulations.
The Benefits of Powder Coating Industrial Equipment
Powder coating has numerous benefits, especially compared to other finishes like wet paint. One of the most significant advantages to powder coating is its durability. It can be used on a variety of surfaces, not just metal. The chemical bonds create a superior coating that can withstand weather and physical impact, including scratches, abrasions and chips.
The benefits of choosing industrial powder coating are:
- Extremely long-lasting, based on proper application
- Available in a wide range of colors and textures
- Curing times are significantly faster compared to liquid coatings
- Contains no solvents and releases no VOCs into the atmosphere
- Excellent durability for tough environments
- Cost-effective and excellent long-term value – you’ll save money over time
Time-Tested and Verified Performance
Rockett is a trusted name for durable, cost-effective industrial powder coating services. We have two electrostatic powder coating systems. Both utilize 5-stage washer/pretreatment systems for optimal surface prep and adhesion. Other features include:
